요약 : Lamentation liturgy as the main form of worship in exilic Judah is the key to understand the formation of the Jeremiah tradition. The book shows the pervasive presence of lamentation elements far beyond the conventional limits of Jeremiah's confessions. The liturgical elements are post-Jeremiah reformulation of the prophet's discourses and confessions, to help the lamenting community express complaints, grief and pain, and at the same time, to express conviction of, and consent to Jeremiah's words of judgment (i.e. the lamentation rhetoric). Here, Judah's voice and that of the divine pathos are set in polyphonic interaction with Jeremiah's laments. The lamentation rhetoric is at work not only in the collected poetry in Jer 1--20, but is also at work behind the "Book of Consolation" in Jer 3--31 and the "Oracles against the Nations" in Jer 46--51. It is between these lamentation liturgies that the narrative presentation of Jeremiah (Jer 26--29; 32--45) is embedded, and hence I propose that the liturgical setting of lamentation is also the platform for the rhetorical presentation of Jeremiah. The whole book is the narrator's "preaching of the prophet" (the prophetic stories) as well as "preaching on his preaching" (the prophetic discourses).

요약 : The narrative nature of Jer 26--45 requires the use of narrative and rhetorical criticisms to understand the narrator's presentation strategy and rhetorical skill in his "preaching of the prophet." Since Jeremiah appeared as a counter-prophet in opposition to the state cult and national policies, rhetorical analysis helps to uncover not only Jeremiah's prophetic rhetoric, but also the narrator's narrative rhetoric in reinstating a marginal prophet into the religious mainstream of Judah, in light of the realization of his prophecy after the 587 national breakdown. The narrator aims to help the remnant community to re-experience the prophetic reality of Jeremiah and his word. Prophetic episodes are presented rhetorically according to analogous patterns and thematic solidarity which are clustered into "prophet against prophets," "prophet against kings and princes" and "prophet against people." The presentation ends with Baruch's lament (Jer 45).
