■520    ▼aThis  thesis-project  aims  to  help  male  Christians  reduce  their  use  of  pornography.  It  employs  a  quantitative  research  method  to  measure  the  effectiveness  of  a  seminar  taught  by  the  researcher  to  Christian  men.  The  hypothesis  is:  "Male  Christians  who  use  pornography  will  do  so  less  frequently  when  they  have  an  increased  understanding  of  biblical  sexuality  and  the  destructive  nature  of  pornography  while  using  relevant  preventive  measures  for  maintaining  accountability."
■520    ▼aTo  accomplish  this  purpose,  sixty-four  Christian  men  attended  a  seminar  in  which  they  were  taught  the  biblical  principles  of  sexuality,  the  destructive  nature  of  pornography,  and  how  to  apply  relevant  preventive  measures  for  maintaining  accountability.  Additionally,  participants  filled  out  two  post-seminar  surveys  that  were  used  to  measure  the  effectiveness  of  the  seminar.  The  first  survey  was  given  at  the  end  of  the  one-day  seminar  training.  This  survey  collected  data  about  participants'  pornography  viewing  habits,  their  opinions  about  pornography  viewing,  and  their  commitment  toward  the  28-day  period  that  followed.  This  28-day  period  is  a  personal  training  ground  in  which  participants  apply  the  tools  learned  in  the  seminar  designed  to  strengthen  their  resistance  against  the  temptation  to  use  pornography.  Subsequent  to  this  28-day  period,  a  second  survey  was  administered  to  assess  the  participants'  pornography  viewing  habits  and  evaluate  the  effectiveness  of  the  preventive  measures  by  comparing  the  results  with  the  previous  survey.  The  success  of  this  project  depended  on  the  participants'  ability  to  resist  the  temptation  to  use  pornography.
■520    ▼aThe  researcher  concludes  that  the  research  question  and  its  underlying  hypothesis  have  been  sustained  from  his  findings.  On  the  basis  of  biblical  sexuality,  the  application  of  the  following  preventive  measures  has  been  proven  to  help  Christian  men---who  use  pornography---to  do  so  less  frequently:  (1)  A  person  must  acquire  knowledge  of  the  destructive  effects  of  pornography;  (2)  A  person  must  remember  the  deceitfulness  of  pornography  by  associating  it  with  relevant  images;  (3)  A  person  must  rely  on  God  for  help  and  strength;  (4)  A  person  must  give  intentional  effort  to  overcome  the  temptation  to  use  pornography;  and  (5)  A  person  must  establish  accountability  relationships  with  one  or  more  partners.
