■520    ▼aThis  study  was  an  exploration  of  the  caseworker's  perceived  level  of  engagement  with  an  incarcerated  parent  and  its  implications  as  they  pertain  to  the  reunification  with  the  parent  with  his  or  her  child  living  in  foster  care.  The  purpose  of  the  study  was  to  explore  the  lived  experiences  of  caseworkers  who  had  experienced  the  phenomenon.  A  qualitative  research  phenomenological  method  was  utilized  for  data  collection  and  analysis  to  investigate  caseworkers'  lived  experiences.  Fifteen  participants  were  interviewed  employing  a  thorough,  one-on-one,  semi-structured  interview  process.  The  interviews  were  audio-recorded,  transcribed,  and  then  analyzed.  Three  major  themes  emerged  from  the  data  analysis  process  relative  to  the  level  of  engagement  between  the  caseworker,  parent  and  children  in  foster  care.  The  three  themes  comprised:  (a)  communication,  (b)  adherence,  and  (c)  teamwork.  Collectively,  the  three  themes  implied  that  when  all  parties  were  engaged  a  successful  reunification  was  more  likely.  Findings  also  determined  that  engagement  and,  therefore,  successful  reunification  stems  from  communication,  adherence  to  policies,  and  teamwork.
