요약 : The objective of the dissertation is an exegetical and hermeneutical analysis of the synoptic pericopes concerning divorce and remarriage. The cardinal passages considered are Matt. 5:31-32; 19:3-12; Mark 10:1-12; and Luke 16:18. Since the synoptic Gospels contain the explicit teachings of Jesus concerning divorce and remarriage, the applicable pericopes constitute the foundation upon which a composite formulation of the New Testament teaching concerning divorce and remarriage must be constructed.
초록/해제
요약 : The first chapter investigates the historical background and cultural milieu relevant to understanding the divorce and remarriage pericopes in the synoptic Gospels. Sources which contribute to this investigation include ancient Mesopotamian law codes, the Old Testament, Mishnaic and talmudic writings, Hellenistic-Jewish literature, discoveries from the Qumran community, and works which present the social and cultural environment of the intertestamental and first-century Graeco-Roman world. Deut. 24:1-4 is discussed as the most significant Old Testament influence upon the synoptic pericopes. The possible cultural conditioning of Jewish and Graeco-Roman societies of the intertestamental and first-century world is 1also considered.

요약 : The second and third chapters present a detailed analysis of 1Matt. 5:31-32, 19:3-12; Mark 10:1-12; and Luke 16:18. The relevant texts are exegeted by means of the historical-grammatical-critical hermeneutical procedure. Lexical studies, grammatical elements, 1and syntactical constructions receive extensive analysis. Relevant conclusions and contributions from previous exegetical and hermeneutical studies--from the Patristic era to the present--are presented. The predominate interpretations of the synoptic passages are discussed and evaluated.

요약 : The fourth chapter summarizes the conclusions of the analysis. After discussing the meanings of (alpha)(pi)(omicron)(lamda)(upsilon)(omega) and (pi)(omicron)(rho)(nu)(epsilon)(iota)(alpha), a composite interpretation is suggested for the synoptic pericopes through a harmonistic hermeneutical approach. Reconciliation for the Matthean and Marcan accounts is suggested based upon an observation of the specific audiences addressed in Matt. 19:9 and Mark 10:10-12 and a distinction in the teaching of Jesus with respect to those within the Messianic kingdom and those outside.
