■520    ▼aThe  primary  purpose  of  this  thesis  is  to  identify  the  sources  available  for  the  study  of  Acts  before  the  Reformation  and  in  so  doing  to  present  the  bibliographical  tools  available  to  facilitate  such  an  examination.  The  focus  of  the  study  is  an  analysis  of  the  Cornelius  story  in  Acts  10-11:18  in  published  sources.  In  particular,  the  study  examines  the  treatment  of  the  so-called  "God-fearers"  and  what  the  authors'  treatment  of  this  topic  reveals  about  their  attitudes  toward  the  Jews.  The  principal  sources  consulted  include  John  Chrysostom,  Arator,  Cassiodorus,  Gregory  the  Great,  the  Venerable  Bede,  Rabanus  Maurus,  the  Glossa  ordinaria,  Peter  of  Poitiers,  Peter  Riga,  Hugh  of  St.  Cher,  Nicholas  of  Lyra,  Pierre  Bersuire,  Denis  the  Carthusian,  Arnoul  Greban,  Lorenzo  Valla  and  Desiderius  Erasmus.  An  appendix  lists  the  sources  for  the  study  of  Acts  in  the  Eastern  exegetical  traditions.
