초록/해제: 요약 : Jesus' future teaching in the Olivet Discourse about the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple and the descent of the Son of Man has long been debated. The Synoptic Gospels contain passages that reflect both short and long term perspectives. This study examines the eschatology of Ben F. Meyer, N. T. Wright, and Progressive Dispensationalism (PD) to see how they understand Jesus' future teaching and determine the relationship between the historical crisis (Mark 13:1--2; Luke 21:20) and the eschatological crisis (Mark 13:24--27) and how they engage with theme of imminence and delay as it relates to the restoration of Israel. It attempts to support a pattern interpretation in Jesus' teaching that links both the events of AD 70 and the great end-time suffering (tribulation) typologically. This study affirms that the complementary hermeneutic of PD solves the problem faced by the reader of the Synoptic Gospels to make a decision as to whether Jesus intended a short term or long term fulfillment. Pattern interpretation supports a two-stage program for the restoration of Israel. In doing so a case is made that Mark's figurative language is not merely metaphorical in its meaning as some critical scholars maintain but has referential meaning and that apocalyptic in Mark's Gospel reveals secrets of "the world above" in the end-time descent of the Son of Man.
