초록/해제
요약 : Offers a biographical sketch of Gerhard Forde, including his theological heritage of Old Norwegian Synod first form election theology, the influence of theologians like Barth, Iwand, Haikola, Ebeling, Wingren, and Bonhoeffer, and career contributions at Luther Seminary, in dialog journal, and on the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Dialogues.
초록/해제
요약 : Analyzes Forde's constructive theological system, alert for missionally interesting aspects. Investigates his hermeneutical principle of a critical respect for the tradition coupled with reconstruction that is faithful to scripture and viable today, including a search for an adequate epistemology in a law-gospel approach and a wariness of metaphysical constructs. Surveys his Law-Gospel Debate critiques of historic approaches to law and elaborates his own functional understanding of a law that ends in the eschatological act. Explores the eschatological act character of the revelation, rejecting atonement constructs that keep God at bay, but embracing the paradigm of an accident to actualize the atoning action in the present. Considers the shape of the eschatological event itself in terms of justification, death and new life, and faith, along with the role of proclamation in permitting/enabling it. Analyzes the radical shape of the freedom that emerges from it.
초록/해제
요약 : Reviews the origins of the concept of mission and builds a roadmap of contemporary missiology using works by Timothy Yates, David Bosch, Stephen Bevans, and Roger Schroeder, and also Luther research from Gustav Warneck through Karl Holl and Werner Elert to Ingemar Oberg. Analyzes Forde's own use of "mission," and compares Forde's theology with the roadmap just obtained. Identifies three striking Fordean contributions in concern for the eschatological act character of the proclamation, freedom in Christ, and viability of the message; three discontinuities in the function of the doctrine of the Trinity, the universality and urgency of mission, and the breadth of missiological self-definition; and three discussion-worthy missional issues within Forde's theology itself in the hermeneutical tension surrounding the role of the interpreter, the question of diversity in his anthropology, and questions about common interfaith action through the civil use of the law. A constructive missional proposal with respect to Gerhard Forde's theology for a particular context concludes the argument.
