요약 : Modern leadership styles are more cooperative than authoritarian (Bennis, 2008; Collins, 2001; Hunter, 1998; Kouzes & Posner, 2010). Servant leadership is one form of leadership that emphasizes the principles of shared values, encompasses vision, leadership development and results in high levels of follower motivation, satisfaction, and retention (Greenleaf, 1977; Bennis, 2008). Many researchers have determined that servant leadership does make a significant difference in both business and education (Anderson, 2005; Cerit, 2009; Hoyle, 2002; Stephen, 2007; Waddell, 2006). Because of the effectiveness of servant leadership (Black, 2010, Cerit, 2009) and the biblical record on servant leadership, it is important to understand the application of servant leadership in the Christian school setting (Anderson, 2005; Stephen, 2007). The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a statistically significant difference in the mean servant leadership scores of Christian school teachers who serve with servant leader principals and those who serve with non-servant leader principals. This study used the Servant Leader Profile - Revised (SLP-R) by Page and Wong (2003) to survey principals and teachers of K-12 Christian schools that are members of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The SLP-R responses determined principals and teachers who self-evaluated as servant leaders and those who did not self-evaluate as servant leaders. A t-test of independent means revealed the difference in teacher means between those who work for servant leader principals and those who do not work for servant leader principals. Additional analysis was performed to better understand the statistical data gathered from the Christian principals and teachers, including demographical data and individual factors. This study contributes to the literature on servant leadership as applied in Christian education, contributes to educational classroom leadership, and leads to further studies on the development of servant organizations.
