요약 : The local church has been facing a serious problem of leadership shortage. In order to address this leadership deficit problem, the local church has to examine its leadership development plan. A deeper issue is not only a leadership problem, but rather a leadership development problem. Not only are there not enough leaders, but more importantly there are no tangible plans or strategies for developing effective leaders in the church. If the church fails to raise up effective leaders, then the growth of the church would be eventually hindered and its mission would be aborted.

요약 : The purpose of this research is to increase the effectiveness of developing Christian leaders through intentional mentoring relationships in the local church. This research project attempted to propose and evaluate the significance of intentional mentoring relationships in a church-based leadership development process. This research was conducted at Young Nak Celebration Church as an example of a local church to develop an effective leadership development process for its existing and emerging leaders in ministry. To answer the research question, a survey questionnaire was sent out to the leaders, who completed the Leadership Journey (TLJ) at Young Nak Celebration Church. The results of the survey overwhelmingly affirmed the importance and effectiveness of intentional mentoring relationships in developing Christian leaders in the church. Ministry leaders became more effective and confident, as a result of being involved in a mentoring relationship. Based on the biblical studies, literature review, and the result of the survey, this research provided a framework of leadership development process that worked at Young Nak Celebration Church and that appeared to be applicable in other local church contexts.
