■520    ▼aThis  study  explored  the  relationship  between  mentoring  relationships  and  the  Christian  spirituality  of  college  freshmen  attending  Presbyterian  churches  in  South  Korea.  The  purpose  of  this  study  was  to  examine  whether  the  presence  of  a  mentoring  relationship  was  associated  with  the  level  of  Christian  spirituality  among  college  freshmen.  The  sample  was  recruited  from  15  presbyterian  churches  in  South  Korea  belonging  to  the  Hapdong  denomination.  Out  of  the  total  of  367  returned  survey  questionnaires,  313  usable  surveys  made  up  a  response  rate  of  85.3%  after  excluding  unusable  surveys.
■520    ▼aA  quantitative  data  was  collected  from  participants  by  using  several  instruments  to  measure  the  presence  of  mentoring  relationships  (mentoring  question),  Christian  spirituality  (SAI),  and  mentoring  relationship  quality  (RHI-M).  Demographic  data  was  also  collected.  To  analyze  the  data,  this  study  used  Mann-Whitney  U  test,  Independent  Sample  T-test,  Spearman's  Rho,  and  Standard  Multiple  Regression.
■520    ▼aMore  than  half  of  participants  reported  the  presence  of  mentoring  relationships  (58.1%),  and  pastor  was  the  leading  mentor  figure  (22%).  Out  of  all  the  mentoring  types,  the  majority  were  natural  mentoring  relationships  (94.5%),  and  most  mentors  were.
■520    ▼aChristians  (92.3%).  The  result  of  data  analysis  revealed  that  the  mentoring  group  reported  a  higher  level  of  Christian  spirituality  in  most  of  the  domains  of  spirituality  (SAI-A,  SAI-  RA,  SAI-G,  &  SAI-IM),  and  the  female  group  reported  a  higher  level  of  spirituality  in  the  Awareness  domain  (SAI-A).  However,  no  difference  was  found  between  gender  groups  among  mentored  participants.  Among  mentoring  relationship  characteristics,  mentoring  relationship  quality  (RHI-M)  was  associated  with  participants'  spirituality  in  the  Realistic  Acceptance  domain  (SAI-RA).  Regression  analysis  revealed  that  the  frequency  of  mentoring  contact  significantly  predicted  the  Awareness  domain  of  spirituality  (SAI-A).  Mentoring  frequency  was  found  to  be  the  most  common  predictor  of  spirituality  when  comparing  the  relative  strength  of  prediction.
■520    ▼aImplications  were  discussed  based  on  the  research  results.  First,  mentoring  relationship  should  be  prioritized  in  youth  ministry  as  an  effort  to  promote  adolescents'  spirituality.  Initiation  of  formal  types  of  mentoring  was  suggested  in  the  hope  of  forming  natural  mentoring  relationships  afterwards.  Second,  mentoring  should  be  emphasized  in  the  discipleship  program.  A  discipleship  leader  can  and  should  serve  as  a  mentor  figure  to  their  student.  Relationship  closeness,  which  is  the  core  value  of  mentoring  relationships,  needs  to  be  checked  (RHI-M)  for  a  fruitful  result  in  spiritual  development.  Several  recommendations  were  suggested  for  future  research.
