초록/해제: 요약 : The last decade has seen an explosion of literature addressing the period of emerging adulthood (roughly defined as ages 18-29). Although previous research has addressed the topic of religion or spirituality broadly in emerging adulthood, Christian spirituality in emerging adulthood has received little attention. While quantitative analyses of spirituality in emerging adulthood are numerous, qualitative analyses are relatively lacking.

초록/해제: 요약 : Through in-depth interviews with Christian college students ( n = 18), this qualitative study investigated the spiritual experiences of Christian emerging adults. Grounded theory analysis revealed 6 main themes emerging from participants' firsthand experiences: (a) authentic, (b) guarded, (c) fluctuating, (d) maturing, (e) insecure, and (f) corrective. Expanded descriptions of these 6 themes were: (a) pursuing authenticity with God; (b) guarded against vulnerability with God; (c) fluctuating experience of felt connection with God; (d) maturing in spiritual development; (e) insecure emotionally in relationship with God; and (f) corrective relational experiences with God.

초록/해제: 요약 : Implications for theory development are discussed in the areas of emerging adulthood, attachment theory, psychoanalytic object relations, and the psychology of religion/spirituality. Suggestions for clinical practice, soul care, and future research are addressed.
