요약 : The purpose of this study was to examine the lived experiences of Asian Indian women who have achieved top-level executive leadership positions. To illuminate and reflect upon their journey to leadership, this qualitative inquiry-based study explored Asian Indian women's perspectives on personal attributes, actions, and experiences as well as support received from familial or professional sources that created a pathway to their level of success. By investigating the theoretical angles of leadership, social identity, intersectionality, and motivational manifestations in their ascent to leadership, findings of the study reveal unique insights into a highly educated and fast-growing Asian American population in the United States. A qualitative research design, utilizing a phenomenological-heuristic theoretical lens (Patton, 2002) yielded an information-rich, purposeful sample through the use of snowball sampling. Semi-structured interviews generated qualitative narratives that were analyzed for trends and themes. Findings of the study indicated the resolute presence of personal determination, catalytic life events, risk taking, network supports and perseverance among the eight study participants. Each of these elements occurred in a unique combination to empower relentless pursuit of success. The conclusions indicated the paramount value of self-efficacy, empowerment, and power and influence as pivotal markers in the journey to achieving top-level executive leadership roles. Implications of the study present the need for researchers, educators, business and networking organizations, social advocates, and state and federal groups to meaningfully advance equal opportunity for underrepresented groups, develop Asian Indians' capacity as leaders, and empower women in the workplace. Continued proactive inquiry of emerging marginalized groups is necessary to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the future. Recommendations are to (a) conduct more thorough analysis of marginalized groups in the workplace through deeper qualitative analysis; (b) research underrepresented groups who have achieved success with respect to a given construct that can promote motivation, efficacy, or advocacy; (c) conduct case studies of minority groups within Fortune 500 companies; (d) conduct a 360-degree analysis of women, or women of color, as leaders; (e) analyze generational differences and impact on leaders and organizations of underrepresented groups.
