요약 : In 1907, the International Apostolic Holiness Church (IAHC) in the United States officially started the Korea Holiness Church (KHC) through the Oriental Missionary Society (OMS). The most direct heritage of the KHC is from the IAHC, God's Revivalist and Bible Advocate, and God's Bible School and Missionary Training Home. Charles E. and Lettie Cowman were ordained by the IAHC in 1901 and became missionaries to Japan and Korea. On December 29, 1905, having been appointed as the general superintendent for the Orient by the Foreign Missionary Board of the IAHC, Cowman began his mission with three Koreans, Bin Chung, Sang Joon Kim and Jang Ha Li in May 1907.

요약 : Most of the early OMS missionaries and funds to Korea came from the IAHC and God's Revivalist. Some came from the International Holiness Mission in England. The KHC adopted the constitution, theology, culture, government, and missionary methods of the IAHC. It was imperative that the OMS, a young mission structure, be dependent on the loosely associated congregational structure of the IAHC. On the other hand, as a partner, the IAHC needed the OMS to plant, multiply, and extend the Korea Holiness Church.

요약 : The most important teachings of the OMS and the early KHC were evangelical Christianity, the fourfold gospel (regeneration, Spirit-baptism, divine healing, and premillennial return), and immersion baptism. The KHC focused on (1) direct and tract evangelism; (2) vital worship and preaching; (3) village campaigns; (4) nondenominational structure; (5) emphasis on divine healing and the gifts of the Spirit among the disinherited; and (6) lay involvement and women's ministry.

요약 : Between 1914 and 1929, the KHC expanded its influence through the Seoul Bible Training School, the Great Village Evangelistic Campaign, the tent work at markets, God's Revivalist Province in Korea, and circuit revivals as planting strategies. In 1933, it developed the Presbyterian system of polity. Between 1935 and 1945, it lacked order, changing polity. Under a contextual hard time, the KHC suffered schism and demise. Between 1945 and 1957, it concentrated on evangelism and church planting. It resumed its institutions. It set a goal to establish 1,000 churches within five years. The OMS resumed its work in coordination with World Vision. The communist regime in the North took key leaders of the KHC captive and lost all Holiness churches in the northern districts. More than two-thirds of its churches in the South were destroyed, and its people were scattered. But the KHC provided the ravaged relief, prayer and revival. It rebuilt 200 destroyed churches and social institutions.
