요약 : The call to understand the nature of women's victimization, power, authority, survival principles, and tools for struggle in Micah is problematic and exciting at once. There is no doubt that the writer of Micah has taken female imagery and women's lives and used them to declare the message of YHWH to ancient and modern readers. All of the metaphors in use point to vulnerability and usually in the most negative of ways. They are assigned cultural, political, social, and religious power by their use. Most notably questions of power, honor, justice, and security become clear as the writer manipulates female stereotypes, and by so doing, evokes disgust, shame, fear, feelings of betrayal and abandonment, and horror in the audience. To understand and come to a reading of Micah must include understanding and appreciating that the writer begins within the world of women, cities personified and addressed as females.
초록/해제
요약 : The impact of these personifications and therefore of woman as metaphor cannot be overstated. The text is a woman's world. Not only that, it is the world of a lamenting woman. The prophet could have used any metaphors, but there is something very specific about the use of women's worlds in this text that lends itself to Womanist critical analysis that puts African-American women's concerns on the stage of biblical reading. This stage allows a Womanist interpreter to ask questions of the text that matter to Womanists, i.e., questions of power, language, gender, class, and survival. The convergence of feminine imagery and metaphor with Womanist questions and concerns produces a reading of Micah that breaks conventionality while adding dimension to the roundtable discussions of scholarship on Micah.
